ITALIAN NUMBERS 0-100 LIST FREEBIE #2

BEGINNER ITALIAN NUMBERS 0-100 LIST I encourage my beginner Italian students to build up a comprehensive vocabulary bank that they can reference easily whenever they need it - we also use them for quick vocab quizzes, spelling competitions and so on. This particular list is for my more experienced Italian learners, who’ve been learning Italian for a while - all the numbers are on a single page in landscape format, so the font is fairly small, but they’re comfortable with quite a bit of text on a single page. My students all have reference resource folders or files - these can have a range of formats - for instance, sticking into a large exercise book, or punching holes down the left-hand side, and adding to files (we also use twine or thick string!). There are two backgrounds to choose from - Italian flag, which I tend to use for vocab display, or black wave - the background makes the list a little more visually appealing, particularly for beginner language learners who do have a lot of vocab lists during the introductory phase of their studies. Have a browse in my store for more Italian vocabulary lists, and a wide range of other Italian teaching and learning resources, with dollar deals, special offer bundles, and lots of freebies too! ENGLISH FOR FRENCH SPEAKERS VERBS LIST FREEBIE #3

ANGLAIS LANGUE SECONDE ESL EFL ENGLISH COMMON VERBS FOR FRENCH-SPEAKING LEARNERS OF ENGLISH English language verb reference resource for French-speaking students focusing on high-frequency English verbs. I’ve found that the lists are a great learning support resource, and they’re really popular with students too. They work well when students keep them carefully in learning files or folders for current and future reference, either in class or at home. They also work well printed double-sided and laminated for small-group work in class. This list is a third collection of 25 high-frequency English verbs that students will meet in the beginning to intermediate stages of English learning programs. They are common English verbs, so they will see, hear and use the verbs regularly in daily life. They include regular and irregular verbs, and are all in the infinitive form - it’s an important step in learning is to ensure that students quickly develop a useful vocabulary bank, are able to recognize English verbs, and are confident with the meaning of those verbs in French - at that point they can move on to looking at conjugation and using the verbs in a communicative and practical context. Students shouldn’t take on the task of learning 25 verbs all at once though - this is more of a longer-term reference resource that students can use to audit their developing English verb vocabulary - embedding the verbs into long-term memory will come through frequent usage. There are two alphabetical lists - one English-French, and one French-English, as I’ve found that beginner language students prefer to have both as a reference resource. There are two backgrounds to choose from - England flag (which looks good as grammar / vocabulary display), and black wave - students tell me that this makes vocab lists more visually appealing, which is really useful when they’ve got a lot of vocab to work through and learn. SPANISH FOR GERMAN SPEAKERS FRUITS WORD SEARCH FREEBIE

SPANISCH FÜR DEUTSCHSPRACHIGE ALEMÁN SPANISH FOR GERMAN SPEAKERS SPANISH FRUITS WORD SEARCH for German-speaking Spanish learners. Sopas de Letras are a fabulous way of encouraging learners to engage with the written word in Spanish, refreshing and reinforcing language as they complete the grids. This freebie features a Spanish fruits word search with answer key, perfect for beginner Spanish learners of all grades. The fruits include masculine, feminine, singular and plural, with a blend of definite and indefinite articles - this really helps learners think a little more creatively about language, and their new Spanish vocabulary - they may learn la manzana, and it’s useful to give students opportunity to think about grammatical concepts, and how la becomes una for example. There is a Spanish to German grid, where learners are prompted with the Spanish word, and look for it in Spanish in the grid. For additional consolidation, the grid also features a German word list that they have to complete, really putting their knowledge to the test. Learners can tell in which direction the words are written by looking at the arrow key on the grid. Having a good bilingual dictionary to hand is also a good idea, as this provides a further focus on developing literacy in both Spanish and German, and facilitates learner independence. There is an answer key grid for the search grid, so that learners can check their answers - or use for a little extra help if they need it. Answer keys are really essential - they offer learners an additional opportunity to engage with language, develop more independence in their learning, and students genuinely enjoy ‘correcting’ their own, and particularly each others’ work. They’re a great teacher time-saver too, which is always a good thing! The word search is in landscape format, as this mirrors the common direction of reading and writing from left to right in both Spanish and German. I’ve found this to be the best format for beginner language learners, ensuring language is very clear and accessible. This kind of activity is really versatile too - I use for sub lessons, as starters, refreshers, plenaries or fun-time fillers at any time during the school year, as well as when I’m focusing on fruits in Spanish. The lists work well when students keep them carefully in learning files or folders for current and future reference. They also work well printed double-sided and laminated for small-group work in class. There are two backgrounds to choose from - Italian flag, which I tend to use for vocab display, or black wave. ENGLISH CHRISTMAS VOCABULARY FREEBIE

ESL EFL ENGLISH CHRISTMAS VOCABULARY A great English Christmas picture & vocabulary reference resource for younger learners of English. It works well when students keep them carefully in learning files or folders for current and future reference. They also work well printed double-sided and laminated for small-group work in class. There are 20 common English Christmas words with pictures that I’ve found ideal for children learning English. I’ve used a blend of definite article and indefinite article and there are some plurals too. I use this to stimulate discussion about articles, the lack of gender in English (which is often quite contrary to many learners’ first language), and forming the plural in English. It’s also great for promoting discussion about Christmas traditions and practices in the UK, as the words definitely have a UK-theme, such as Christmas crackers and mince pies, as well as other English-speaking countries, comparing them to other Christmas customs with which students are familiar. Over time, I encourage students to add to the list - by the end of their English language learning program, they’ll have a comprehensive English Christmas vocabulary bank. There are two backgrounds to choose from - Christmas colors which I tend to use as part of an English language Christmas display, and blackline snow. Have a browse in my store for more English Language Christmas resources, and a wide range of other ESL EFL teaching and learning activities, with special offer bundles and lots of freebies too! ENGLISH NUMBERS 0-10 WORD SEARCH FREEBIE

(1)
ESL EFL ENGLISH WORD SEARCH NUMBERS 0-10 WITH ANSWER KEY Word searches a fabulous way of encouraging learners to engage with the written word, practicing and reinforcing language as they complete the grids. This is an English-only sampler word search, focusing on Numbers 0-10. The search offers a really useful learning opportunity - consolidating not only new numbers, but also working on reading, writing, spelling and literacy skills in general. It’s ideal for learners of English as a second or foreign language. Word searches are easily differentiated, with opportunity to increase challenge gradually, and learners have to look very carefully at letters, and how words are constructed to complete the grid. They are able to identify which direction words are located in within the grid by referring to the arrow key. Here, for additional consolidation, they also rewrite each number in the word column. There is an answer grid for the word search, so that learners can check their answers - or use for a little extra help if they need it! For me, answer keys are essential, as they not only provide learners with another opportunity to engage with language, but they also help them develop more independence in their learning. They’re also a great teacher time-saver - a real bonus! The word search is in landscape format, mirroring the common direction of reading and writing from left to right, facilitating learner engagement with the activity. The landscape format is also really useful for learners whose first language is written from right to left. There is a single grid per 8.5 x 11 (A4) sheet - I like to ensure that text is accessible to all learners, and at this stage of their learning, it’s absolutely essential that language looks accessible and manageable. Word searches are really versatile too — I tend to have folders of a range of vocab/theme word searches ready in folders - we can just pick them up and they’re good to go - as starters, refreshers, plenaries or fun-time fillers at any time during the school year, as well as when there’s a particular focus on number spelling. I also sometimes copy all the grids as a workbook, and let learners simply work their way through. The workbook format is great for home learning too. BEGINNER SPANISH ADJECTIVES an instant reference resource for students focusing on Spanish adjectives. I’ve found that the lists are a great learning support resource, and they’re really popular with students too. They work well when students keep them carefully in learning files or folders for current and future reference. They also work well printed double-sided and laminated for small-group work in class. This list is a second collection of 25 high-frequency Spanish adjectives that I work with at the beginning of their Spanish program - it’s an important step in learning is to ensure that students quickly develop a useful vocabulary bank, are able to recognize Spanish adjectives, and are confident with the meaning of those adjectives in English, so that they can produce more complex and descriptive language as soon as possible. Students shouldn’t take on the task of learning 25 adjectives all at once though - this is more of a longer-term reference resource that students can use to audit their developing Spanish vocabulary. There are two alphabetical lists - one Spanish-English, and one English-Spanish, as I’ve found that beginner language students prefer to have both as a reference resource. There are two backgrounds to choose from - Spanish flag (which I tend to use as part of a vocabulary display), and black wave - students tell me that this makes vocab lists more visually appealing, which is really useful when they’ve got a lot of vocab to work through and learn. SPANISH CONJUGATION PRACTICE SAMPLER

SPANISH CONJUGATION DRILLS SAMPLER I’ve created a lot of ‘quick conjugation workbooks’ for my students and they’re really popular and effective. They’re a great way of practicing, reinforcing and revising how to conjugate all the various verb groups, tenses and moods in Spanish. I use them in a range of learning contexts such as independent work either in class time or at home, holiday refresher work, or individual activities for cover lessons. Students really benefit from several opportunities to work through the workbook, once or twice a term across a whole school year is a great way of both mapping progress and developing overall understanding and competence. My quick conjugation workbooks focus on a specific set of 25 essential Spanish verbs in a range of tenses. They include modals, regular, and irregular verbs. This sampler demonstrates a range of Spanish conjugation challenges, with the answer key immediately following the relevant conjugation questions. It will definitely give you an idea of what the quick conjugation workbooks look like, and how they are structured, and whether you think they’ll work well for your students.
